BIM Execution Planning Guide developed at Penn State

Penn State has recently released a BIM Execution Planning Guide that is now available for download.







The goal of the guide is to provide guidance to teams in creating their BIM strategy and execution plan.

EUA & UW-Milwaukee's School of Architecture and Urban Planning (SARUP)

Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) is once again sponsoring the BIM studio at UW-Milwaukee SARUP . The course is design focused but also contains a Revit workshop. I've been teaching the Revit workshop the last few years and it's been a lot of fun. Check out some of the student's work from years past here.

EUA is also sponsoring the Computation and Craft Lecture Series in conjunction with the BIM Studio. An abbreviated schedule is shown below or you can check out the full flyer here.

All lectures occur on Thursdays, 12 - 1:30 pm, at Eppstein Uhen Architects:

State of WI (DSF) - Requires BIM

The Department of State Facilies (DSF) for Wisconsin will start requiring Building information models for certain projects starting July, 2009. Here is a short snipit:


This BIM Guideline and Standard applies to DSF A/E selections advertised on or after
July 1, 2009 for the following projects:

  • Required on all construction (new and addition/alteration) with total project
    funding of $5M or greater
  • Required on all new construction with total project funding of $2.5M or greater
  • Required on all addition/alteration construction with total project funding of $2.5M
    or greater that includes new addition costs of 50% or more of total
  • Encouraged but not required on all other projects.

Autodesk & IPD












Autodesk has recently released more information on Integrated Project Delivery. You can get to Autodesk's main page at:

From there you can get to a flash site (click here) that has more specifics on IPD and additional resources. You can even download an introductory kit that has a couple white papers and a audio recording by Phil Bernstein from a live event in New York city on IPD.
